Polo Orchid Resort, Cherrapunji — Landscape

Perched on the cliffs of Cherrapunji, Polo Orchid Resort offers panoramic views of the valley and sky — a perfect canvas where nature meets design. Our landscape concept was envisioned to enhance this natural splendour through thoughtful spatial planning, material harmony, and subtle detailing.

The design approach focuses on preserving the site’s natural contours while introducing functional and experiential outdoor spaces. The infinity-edge pool was strategically positioned along the cliffline to create a visual merge with the horizon, enhancing the perception of endless space. Hardscapes were developed using locally sourced stone and timber finishes to ensure minimal environmental impact and aesthetic continuity with the resort’s architectural palette.

Softscape planning emphasized the use of indigenous plant species suited to the high-rainfall microclimate of Cherrapunji. Layered vegetation and curated green pockets soften the built forms and enhance microclimatic comfort. Lighting design was integrated to highlight key spatial elements and maintain the ambient character of the site during evening hours.

Overall, the landscape design transforms the natural topography into a series of cohesive and experiential spaces — blending luxury, sustainability, and contextual sensitivity to create a resort environment that feels both immersive and timeless.
